In CNCs, FANUC is developing enhanced features for three CNC Series line-ups to meet the requirements of every machine tool, from simple to advanced.

The FANUC Series Oi / Oi Mate-MODEL C CNC, is most suitable for simple machine tools. It is well known for its reliability and cost performance. FANUC has developed a function to simplify CNC set-up and adjustment, as well as an interactive programming function to make the Oi / Oi Mate-MODEL C CNCs more user friendly.

FANUC Series 16i/18i/21i-MODEL B nano CNC has an established performance record for high-speed and high-precision machining, and is widely used for standard machine tools including machining centers, lathes and grinders. FANUC continues to develop functions to further improve the productivity of this series. Major recent improvements include the successful development in the past year of a function to check the program at high-speed before starting to machine, and a function to position at optimal acceleration/deceleration in light of the servo motor characteristics.

FANUC Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL A is a nano CNC most suitable for controlling the most advanced machine tools, including 5 axis machines, compound machines, and multi-path lathes. During the fiscal year ending March 31, 2005, FANUC developed a 5 axis nano smoothing function and a 5 axis NURBS function to simplify commands in simultaneous 5 axis machining. This function produces a much smoother surface. FANUC has also developed a function to give commands to machine tilted working planes to permit more sophisticated 5 axis machining.

FANUC is enhancing the Manual Guide i's integrated operation & programming guidance functions for these CNC Series line-ups to make them more user friendly. Manual Guide i is now applicable to multi-path lathes and also to 15 inch large screen displays with vertical soft keys for FANUC Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL A.
